Dunsborough Centrepoint has invested over $1m in a 440 KW solar array.
The panels have been installed on the Centre roof and also on purpose built structures in the Centre carpark.
The system should over 12 months provide up to 50% of the energy required to operate the Centre which will enable us to peg power prices and after collecting generation data for a full year look at price reductions.
With battery storage technology rapidly developing it should be possible within the next few years significantly reduce the power coming from the grid.
Another bonus is that the carpark structures provide shade for vehicles in summer and some protection from rain in the winter.
To date we have saved the environment just under 300 tonne of CO2. Soon we will have a monitor in the Mall so people can see how the system is producing energy in real time.
